Castle Doctrine on the ropes in New Mexico

the bill’s author seems to think it won’t be passing.  Of course it’s the trial lawyers who are keeping good honest Americans from shooting home intruders.

A law that would make injured criminals unable to sue homeowners who injured them while defending themselves likely will fail, state Sen. Steve Neville, R-Aztec, said.The Senate Judiciary Committee voted to delay taking action on the proposed bill Friday, which means it likely won’t be considered again, Neville said in a telephone interview.

Trial lawyers dislike laws that limit people’s ability to sue, and that sentiment led lawmakers to vote against the measure, said Neville, who introduced the bill.
