Ron Paul Still Kicking Ass

And he’s doing it without any support from Fox News, and even though leading warmongers like Michael Leeden have come out opposing him. Paul raised some four million dollars yesterday, in small donations, over the internet. In contrast, Mitt is spending his own money becuase he can’t raise any from the nutjob fundies, Rudy is spending mob money because people hate him for killing firefighters, and Frederick of Hollywood is presumably asleep on the couch. (Update 11/6 at 1:55 PST: and John McCain apparently thinks he’s still in the race. I can’t imagine why.)
I think I understand the basis of Ron Paul’s popularity: it’s his position on Iraq, which is effectively, “To hell with the middle east. Pull all our troops out now, and let the goddamn Arabs sort it out themselves.” According to Wikipedia, he’s also in the right boat w/r/t net neutrality, privacy issues, illegal wiretapping, and the PATRIOT Act. Imagine the support he might have if his campaign wasn’t being uniformly ignored by all traditional media…
As an aside, I’m planning to register as a Republican for the Oregon GOP primary on May 20 2008, so that I can vote for Ron Paul.
